PURPOSE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CONFERENCE

This International Conference on Psychosocial Support and Mental Health Services in Disaster Management aims to bring together scientific and academic experts, policymakers and administrators, professionals and practitioners in mental health and psychosocial support on a single platform. The main purpose of the conference involve –

 Highlight the mental health and psychosocial challenges of individuals, families, communities affected by natural and man-made disasters

  • Convergence of ideas and mutual learning from different stakeholders involved in Disaster Management
  • Serve as platform for networking, collaborations, and partnership among professoionals, organizations, sectors and thus foster a multideciplinary approach to Disaster Management
  • Promotion and advocacy for priortizing mental and psychosocial well-being of disaster affected people. Pushing for global, natonal, local levels policy changes to ensure more funding, resoruces, and attentions towards MHPSS services
  • Identify and address gaps in the field of Disaster Management and Climate change, particualrly with respect to their psychosocial and mental health conseqeunces
  • Become a global platform for sharing the research with peers from different desciplines relevant to MHPSS in disaster management and thus promoting interdescinary apporach to research in mental healht, disaster management, and climate change.
  • Delibrate on possible strategies and solutions to address the gaps in mental and psychsocial well-being of individuals and groups exposed to disasters and/or traumatic events
  • Hight the importance of integrating of disaster management knowledge into mainstream academic and research institutions

This event will serve as a convergence point for diverse perspectives, knowledge exchange, forstering collaborations across organizations from public, private, and social sectors, and the development of best practices for managing the psychosocial impacts of both natural and human-made disasters

Understanding the Psychosocial Impact of Disasters:

To deepen the understanding of the mental health consequences of disasters on individuals, families, and communities.

To explore how various types of disasters—natural, man-made, and climate change-induced—trigger complex emotional, psychological, and social challenges.

To address the compounded effects of violence, internal conflicts, and displacement, with particular focus on migration, stress, and adversities faced by affected populations.


Contributing to Research and Evidence-Based Practice:
To provide a unique platform for experts, policymakers, NGOs, private corporations, and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge and best practices in disaster response and recovery.

To foster collaboration across sectors, including public health, mental health, humanitarian aid, and disaster risk reduction, to build a more resilient and cohesive response to crises.


Advocating for Mental Health and Psychosocial Considerations in Disaster Risk Reduction:
To advocate for the integration of mental health and psychosocial considerations into disaster risk reduction frameworks and policies at national and international levels.

To raise awareness about the critical role of mental health in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, ensuring that mental health services are adequately funded, resourced, and prioritized.


To enable networking and partnerships between international organizations, local practitioners, Health and mental health and community based organizations institutions, facilitating long-term cooperation in the field of disaster management.

Delibrate on Effective strategies and solutions for trauma affected persons

Delibrate on possible strategies and solutions to address the gaps in mental and psychsocial well-being of individuals and groups exposed to disasters and/or traumatic events
